Ok, so maybe the title of this post wasn’t what Paul Child said to his beloved Julia in the movie Julie & Julia, but in the end that is what rang in my mind. Tonight, my beloved brought home a movie that unknowingly meant a lot to the things I had been focused on as of late in life, mainly blogs. I had no idea going into it that a blog was a main component of this movie. Quite frankly I was taking a break
from staring at a computer working to get in some nice family time after
dinner. All I knew was that it was about Julia Child in some way and knew it had to be a good family oriented watch. As the story unfolded and a blog became a center point, I couldn’t stop watching. Incidentally, the film is the first major motion picture based on a blog.
For those who don’t know the movie, very quickly I can say that it was very well filmed and the intertwining of two stories worked very well. It’s incredibly romantic, keeps your interest and as an entrepreneur, it was fun to see the opportunities that were unfolding. This last part was the intriguing portion for me because the turning point illustrated that because of consistent daily blog posts a huge following was created and all sorts of business ventures presented themselves. Imagine that?!
I won’t spoil the story since I highly recommend you watch it, but I guess the point of my post are several. First, something I once heard about on Cassie Strom’s blog reminded me to share more than all business all the time, giving people the chance to understand and learn more about me on a personal level. Second, that while I watched the movie to merely step away from work feeling a bit burnt out, it’s amazing how “The Secret” found it’s way to re-energize me about why I work so hard at what I do in an entertaining and round about way. When you become focused on something and it becomes all encompassing somehow you see it in all parts of your life. In a good way. This movie helped to remind me what good, hard, consistent work can do, but you have to stick with it long enough to reap the rewards. So, here I sit, blogging about something that came to me and gives me inspiration to continue my work. I hope you’ll watch it too and maybe get or keep the inspiration to keep blogging and maybe good opportunity will come your way.
By the way, the correct quote was “You are the butter to my bread, and the breath to my life.” Also, my beloved got it free from the library. You can too. Enjoy! Or should I say, bon appetite!

Roy, thanks for stopping by and commenting, and thanks for the follow on Twitter! Maybe you would be so kind as to retweet this article too?
This movie is one of those hidden gems where the title doesn’t elude to much of the underlying story. Maybe they should have added a tagline or such? Anyway, enjoy the movie, don’t forget to subscribe to the blog and I look forward to connecting with you more, again thanks!

That is such a good film! I love the quote you selected too, very cute!
I love that the ‘modern’ half of the film has a blog focus too, bringing modern technology interests into films is always good!

I love the connection you made between the movie, which I loved as well by the way, and your blog.
I completely understand how you can get so wrapped up in internet marketing that you start living and breathing it. I can’t sit in front of TV without the computer on my lap.
Keep blogging and we will keep reading, Johnny.
Best,

PS Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Ana, thanks for the kind words! I must admit I wasn’t sure this movie would have the impact or interest for me that it did, but I’m glad. I love when things turn out that way. This one is definitely a keeper! Again, thanks for stopping by and taking the time! Bon appetite!
Oh and I love your blog too! So generous of you!

Johnny,
I agree, we need to sometimes step back from our all-encompassing chaos and hard work and reach out to others on a more personal level. Thanks for doing that here.
Wow, I am definitely going to have to pick this movie up now, I had no idea
I also agree, “consistency and persistency” (thanks to Jeff Olson these words are embedded in my mind) are the keys to becoming wildy successful. 90% of us jump off that road to success way too early, it’s the 10% of us who don’t that will make it, and we will be criticized regularly along the way.
Thanks for this post Johnny, definitely brought me some much-needed motivation
Renee, thanks for the kind words, and bon appetite!! You’re gonna love it! Again, thanks for the comments!
